The time on this watch is displayed on the skull's teeth - the two front teeth show the hours while the lower jaw shows the minutes. The watch is a link to the tradition of the memento mori - an object designed to remind us that life is brief and we should seize the moment while we're here.
This version of The Last Laugh features specially commissioned artwork by British Tattoo Artist Adrian Willard, “the design comes from the Mexican Day of the Dead festival. The festival focuses on gathering to remember friends and family who have died. Many gifts and offerings are handed out including sugar skulls that are given to both the living and the dead. It has become a very popular image in the tattoo world over the years and has replaced the regular skull in the mainstream tattoo trends”.
The watch is powered by a 20 jewel automatic mechanical movement. The mechanical movement means that you'll never need to replace the battery on this watch - the motion of wearing the watch provides all the power needed to wind it up and keep it running. The watch movement has a 'jump-hour' feature that means the hour changes over exactly on the 59 -> 00 minute transition.
The watch comes in a MJW presentation box with a specially commissioned artwork by Hannah Davies. Inside the box you'll find the guarantee card - every watch is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of purchase against any original manufacturing defect.
Case: PVD coated 316L stainless steel

Just a reminder, this watch now use an automatic mechanical watch movement, so you won't ever need to have the battery changed. Indeed you won't even need to remember to wind it - the mechanism uses the motion of your wrist to keep the watch wound!
Designed by Crispin Jones, they are genuine indie products entirely conceived and executed following a singular vision. To use a cinematic analogy: most watches may be thought of as Hollywood blockbusters replete with happy ending and saccharine sentiment; Mr Jones Watches in contrast are film noir - interested in the anti-hero and the complicated pleasures of everyday life...
“The watch today is a defunct tool - we all have a mobile phone to check the time on, but the watch endures because it expresses something of our personality. Whilst many watches are a symbol of material wealth, Mr Jones Watches are concerned with ideas.” -Crispin Jones, founder Mr Jones Watches
About Mr Jones Watches: Founded by London-based designer Crispin Jones in 2007, Mr Jones Watches aims to create and produce watches that do more than just tell the time. A masters Degree from the Royal College of Art combined with a history designing for companies including Casio Research and Phillips Design has influenced the way Crispin approached his designs.
Design: To achieve the intricate and playful designs in the collection, Mr Jones Watches uses a series of rotating disks layered on top of each other. The idea, usually used in the design of children’s watches, allows for intricate illustrations and more experimental layouts; whilst still showing the time.

Watch is exactly as photos.
Wishing it were bigger

Beautiful watch. A bit shocked when I received it as to how small the face was - especially since Americans' are buying 48mm+ watches now. The small size comment seems to resinate with people that buy the watch. Hopeful jones will step up the size in the next generation
Lovely Watch, Smaller size
Posted by Greg on Jan 28th 2017
Purchased this watch as a gift for my wife, who is not a big person, but likes sizable watches. The watch itself is wonderful: solid, good weight, and keeps accurate time. She has gotten comments on it from many people, and having jump numbers seems to be a very unusual thing for many people around here.
The size warning is due to the size of the watch seemingly being smaller than other watches listed in that size. On her it looks good, like an oversized women's watch. If I purchased it for myself, it would be to small (6'3" 220lbs). Nevertheless the watch is worth the money.
Dealing with watches.com was nice and easy, No issues with setting up the account or making the transaction. Word of warning: watches.com sent me an SMS to notify me that they received the order and everything was fine and the order was processing. I really appreciate this touch of customer support, especially when purchasing more expensive items. The warning is to let people know to be ready for the SMS message if you make a purchase as a gift. My wife almost found the SMS message on my phone which would have caused me to do some explaining :)
Love the concept, like the execution

I love this watch. I have a collection of Dios de la Muerte pieces and this fits right in. Clever design and everyone I show it to likes it. I will say that I agree with other reviews of this watch on the web that it has legibility issues. I also agree that telling time with this watch is a secondary function. My only gripe/wish is that it be made in a larger case to both help the legibility and make it more contemporary size wise.

I have been buying watches from Watches.com for several years...always excellent, from customer service, to delivery...easy returns, if needed.
Outstanding Customer Service.

I had an unfortunate thing happen with the links for two of the watches I ordered (the issue was with Nixon, not with watches.com just to be absolutely clear) and after being left stranded by Nixon I contacted Angela with watches.com who fixed the problem and was friendly and courteous the entire time. I would have 100% been busying the rest of my watches from them due to her efforts alone but on top of their customer service being outstanding, the products arrived on time and looked absolutely gorgeous when unpacked. 5 stars doesn't do them justice.

Great selection of watches, really good prices. Fast shipping is just as important to me when buying from someone. Watches.com has fast shipping, and good communications on that shipping. I would highly recommend watches.com to anyone who has a watch fetish. Thanks.

The price was so good that I was worried it would be something different than it appeared, but the watch was exactly what I had seen elsewhere for much more money. Great quality and excellent price. It was here lightening quick! I will definitely use watches.com again.
