Limited Edition of 100 pieces worldwide
Lucid Dreams was designed by Chinese artist Yiran Huang (ÈãÈ´ã¦). Yiran was inspired by daydreaming: the emotions surrounding her own personal daydreams and the effect daydreaming has on time. The time on this watch is completely integrated into the design. To find the minutes, you look to the pointing fingers and to read the hour you look at the number cradled by the hands and fingers. As time passes the hands and hair form a shifting nest above the head. Lucid dreams is limited to just 100 pieces worldwide. This watch was hand-drawn by Yiran and then printed and assembled by Mr Jones Watches in London, UK.
Yiran explains her inspiration:
“Daydreaming creates a sort of protective bubble around you - to others it can be seen as you’re holding them at distance, but I think of it more as creating a safe space. Getting lost in your daydreams is a magical experience that you create, it’s your own version of the world, that you experience in your own time.
I think daydreaming can protect you from difficult times. During this year I’ve had a nightmare with all my work deadlines, but I feel I have been supported by the accumulated power of all my years of daily daydreaming. At some points I almost feel like my past self has supported me in the present and daydreaming has made the difficult times pass quickly.
I have a recurring daydream that I try to capture in drawings and also I tried to convey these same emotions in this watch design: I imagine I’m lying in bed and staring at the light peeking through the curtain onto the ceiling. As I lie there I feel my body become lighter and lighter until suddenly I lose my balance and start to fall and fall. I can hear the blood rushing inside my head louder and louder and then the winds starts to whistle and still I’m falling and falling until suddenly there is silence just at the moment when I arrive back on earth - the sounds of the wind and the blood and the weightlessness all disappear in an instant."
