The Quasar is Waldhoff's latest head-turner, a striking premium timepiece featuring the legendary Swiss ETA 6498-2 Unitas, a famous workhorse in Swiss watchmaking ticking in countless luxury watches, and turned it into a custom-made skeleton, a modification requiring the dis-assembly of the movement into its individual parts, 3D scanning and digitization, CNC machining and careful re-assembly.
On top of that, it comes packaged in a Grade 5 Titanium case and bracelet. Titanium is a high-tech material used in space and deep sea exploration. Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) is roughly 100% to 130% harder than steel on the Vickers hardness scale, which is the
primary scientific metric used to measure a material's resistance to surface scratching.
Its surface density and structure require over 2x the force to indent or scratch compared to standard 316L steel.
