Ride on. The latest watch in the Shinola Great Americans Series is dedicated to the founder and soul of snowboarding, Jake Burton Carpenter. Jake founded Burton Snowboards out of a barn in Vermont—our most rough-and-tumble sport watch, the Duck, is custom-detailed to honor the legend (and survive any pow turn you throw at it).
Crafted from rugged stainless steel and outfitted with extra thick sapphire crystal, this watch can take a tumble and come back for more—just like Jake. An exclusive blue colorway with red and white detailing harkens back to vintage Burton Performer boards, and the caseback features a 3D image of Jake doing what he did best. Adventure-proof and with the attitude to prove it, the Duck is the perfect tribute to the man who couldn’t resist shredding a coat of fresh powder...or teaching his kids how to flip the bird.
This Great Americans Series watch comes with exclusive gear designed by the talented craftspeople at Burton. Each piece is an homage to Jake and his hands-on passion for making things: a 1980 Burton Backhill Replica Board, influenced by Jake’s early board shapes; a convertible carrying case that doubles as a backpack cooler; an ice scraper modelled after one of Jake’s licenses; and finally, a coffee table book filled to the brim with insights into the life of the soul of snowboarding.
The high-accuracy Argonite 715 quartz movement gives you dependable, essential functionality. Hand-assembled in Detroit with Swiss and imported parts, it drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and calendar aperture with precision. The Jake Burton edition of the Duck is our first to feature this three-hand movement with a date.
LIMITED EDITION 3D CASEBACK Jake himself is forever frozen in time, shredding like only he could on the Duck’s exclusive three-dimensional caseback. The 316 L stainless steel case is polished and features a blue aluminum unidirectional bezel. This Duck watch features extra thick sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown to achieve a 20 ATM depth rating—so like Jake, you could snowboard and surf, all in a single day.
MATTE BLUE DIAL
The matte velvet blue dial features the Burton logo and JBC’s initials. A red and white tracking band surrounds the blue dial, and a matching calendar aperture sits above the 4 o’clock marker. Brighter and longer lasting SuperLumi-Nova hands and indexes offer superior legibility in the dark.
The Jake Burton Duck sticks the landing with a brushed stainless steel three-link bracelet. The accompanying pull-through nylon strap with a Velcro closure offers a rugged, lightweight alternative for hitting the slopes.
CONVERTIBLE BACKPACK COOLER
The Jake Burton Duck arrives in a bespoke backpack that’s not just cool—it’s an ice-cold cooler. Crafted from premium leather, the backpack features the topography of Mount Mansfield embossed on the front. When you aren’t using it to carry cold brews on the backhill, stow away the comfortable, padded backpack straps in the zippered stash.
