Cornwall county was and is the spiritual home of the English shipmaking industry. During the very heyday of England's reign over the world seas, in the 18th and 19th centuries a shipbuilder was preparing to put ships destined for Royal Navy out to sea from the docks at Falmouth.
In tribute then to this small but significant part of England a timepiece that is quietly unassuming yet significant and important in its performance. A 42 mm diameter round case is keenly polished and finished to deliver a classic, unassuming silhouette that is no less detailed.
Inside the case sits a breakthrough piece of watchmaking technology. A newly developed "sweep hand" movement glides the seconds hand over the dial face in almost seamless manner creating an elegant fluid visualization of time. On the dial, a perfectly proportioned and arranged layout of applied subdials allows for readout of day, date and 24 hour with precision and ease.
In particular the retrograde day display is both intriguing and designed for efficiency of readability. Slim, sophisticated the Cornwall is aptly finished with a hardened mineral lens, and a supple genuine leather strap to round out a superb, elegant timepiece from the house of Earnshaw.
